It’s essential to understand that the Breathwork Susan teaches is a form of Holotropic® Breathwork called two-stage pranayama. This is not about relaxation, but a physical, mental, and emotional challenge that is not recommended for individuals with a history of cardiovascular disease, glaucoma, retinal detachment, serious mental illness, seizures, advanced osteoporosis, physical injuries or recent major surgery, or neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, or similar conditions. If you have asthma, you may participate as long as you bring your inhaler and let Susan know before the session. Breathwork is also not recommended during pregnancy, even in the early stages, but it is safe if you are trying to conceive.
