What to Expect

Have you already taken at least one Breathe in Paris class with me? Do you feel confident with the Breathwork practice and find it easy to follow the flow without needing to be reminded of what to expect? If so, “Breathwork for the Experienced” was created for you. The pace of these classes is faster, as we go straight into the practice after a short meditation, a card of the day, and journaling. These sessions are a great way to practice more regularly, with less talking and more time in the breath.

The theme of each session is determined by the Tarot card we pull at the beginning, and it becomes the title of the class. You will also receive a photo and description of the card with your replay.

You’ll be lying down as we take everything deeper through the breath. The Breathwork segment includes a 5–10 minute meditation to prepare the body, 30 minutes of Two-Stage Pranayama Breathwork, and 20–30 minutes of integration with natural nose breathing. I do not explain the Breathwork technique in these sessions, so it’s important that you already know it.

I recommend using earphones, it really makes a difference. At the end of the session, you’ll also be able to listen to the questions and answers from other participants.

My advice is to go through the session once from beginning to end. If you don’t have time, you can stop before the Breathwork and come back to it later. Once you’ve done the full session once, you don’t need to repeat the beginning each time. You can come back and just do the Breathwork segment.

How to Prepare

  • Find a quiet place where you can lie down

  • Wear comfortable clothing

  • Have a notebook and pen

  • Prepare an eye mask, cushions, and a blanket

  • Use earphones for a more immersive experience

  • Avoid eating 2 hours before the session

  • Sessions are in English and French unless specified

  • Be ready to step out of your comfort zone

Contraindications :
The Breathwork I teach is an abbreviated form of Holotropic® Breathwork called Two-Stage Pranayama. It is a physical, mental, and emotional practice and is not recommended for certain people, including if you have a sore throat, cold or fever, a history of cardiovascular disease, glaucoma, retinal detachment, serious mental illness, seizures, advanced osteoporosis, recent surgery or physical injuries, or asthma (please bring your inhaler). If you are pregnant, Breathwork is not recommended. If you have any doubts, please consult your doctor or contact me at susan@susanoubari.com.

Most of these “Breathwork for the Experienced” sessions are based on the Osho Zen Tarot, which I’ve been using in my classes since 2011. At the beginning of each session, I pull a card. The name you see below is the name of that card, and it becomes the theme and the focus of the class. I build the session around its meaning through reflections, questions, and the Breathwork practice.
